Yes, yes, you see them, aren't they pretty? I was fortunate enough to have that bouquet flung at my face Friday night at a friend's reception. I'm not kidding, they smacked me right in the face, what choice did I have but to catch them after that? This brings my bouquet catchings to a total of 2 (the first being my sister's wedding a year and a half ago). Who thought of this tradition? And I'd like to see some actual data behind what it supposedly means, 'cuz I'm not buying it. Not that I cry myself to sleep over the fact that it hasn't worked for me (those days are way in my past), but I have never heard of it actually working...
In the spirit of tradition, what would New Year's be like if I didn't make my annual "lose weight before summer" resolution? I think I have a shot at it this year seeing how I will be teaching a group fitness class and I want to be a good role model for those participating in it. So in the last of my 2007 blogs I figured I would post some of my 2008 resolutions with this idea in mind: all 5 of you that read this can ask me randomly how I am doing with them. Here they are in no particular order...(drum roll, please)
1. Lose weight before summer (I told you it was tradition)
2. No credit cards!!!
3. Create and stick to a budget (kinda goes hand in hand with #2)
4. Play! I've spent too much time the last 4 years being comfortable staying home.
5. Get a PG-13 rating on my blog (your post inspired me Lauren, I feel like I have something to strive for), can't be that hard for me.
6. Delete my MySpace! All I do is stalk people I shouldn't on there anyways.
7. Serve more.
8. Try to keep up my journal (or blog, or both).
9. Limit my caffeine intake (HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! Right!)
10. Like myself more. That may not make sense to you all, but I know what I mean and that's all that counts.
Let me know if I've missed anything. Happy New Year!!!

They are off!!! I am officially brace free as of the 18th, isn't that fantastic?! No many people told me about how weird it would be to feel smooth, slimy teeth again, but I have to say that what I notice most is how I can't get enough of my smile. Insert Carly Simon here (you know, "You're so vain") Anyways, I have retainers now too, which I am none too pleased with. I lisp with them in and they are cutting up my tongue, life is so hard.
In addition to my fabulous smile, I started my Group Active training. Oh yes, for those of you who don't know, I am on my way to becoming a group fitness instructor. Unitards and leg-warmers here I come. I kid, I kid. It is a really awesome class that incorporates cardio, strength, balance, and flexibility all into one. The best part is you don't look like a retard for not knowing how to do any of the moves because it's all explained in the class. You are all invited to my class...as soon as I get one.
Last, but definitely no least, yesterday was my last day of school for the year. I love that I now get to sleep in for 2 weeks, plus I get presents because my birthday is coming up (I know, it's really just another day, but I'm being positive). Our class had a pretty good party, I'm impressed with the parent help that came out, it really was a success. I got a terrific jewelry set from a little boy in my class that I wore all day as you can see in the picture (my first without braces!).

Okay, so about the work holiday party, is it really okay to have children under the age of 9 present when there is an adult party happening? I'll pretend for a second to be grateful that someone offered their home and hosted, but I don't think it is right for the kids to be present. Not only that, but when you are doing something you really don't want to do for someone you love, shouldn't you paste on a happy smile and just do it? I really think that it is rude to let party-goers know that you are unhappy that your house was offered and make it VERY obvious that it will never happen again. It's just not okay, at least pretend you don't mind until the last person is out, then let your significant other know your true feelings. That said, the night wasn't a total bust. I was able to make a fool out of myself by being the first to kareoke (and y'all know my voice ain't what it used to be) and I also was re-familiarized with a classic quote that will be featured soon. Plus I got to chit-chat with some people I didn't know so well and help organize th "Cool Club," pretty awesome right? Anyways, here's a picture of me and my good friend Aud, and another of me and my good friend Lisa who put on happy faces for all in attendence. Aren't we lookers?!?

I've been thinking a lot about what I could write for the number two post. I decided to stick with the theme of the actual blog for today's post and talk about my manlessness (is a word?). I'm in a predicament right now, I actually could have a man if I wanted, but I'm not interested. So the tricky part is letting a very nice guy know that, while he is great, he is not great for me. I've tried to be subtle, but he's really not getting the hint and I feel terrible and nervous at the thought of having to actually tell him to knock it off already. The real question is, what kind of vibe am I sending to the universe that it would allow me to be attracted to guys who don't look twice at me and not attracted to the guys who will? I mean, honestly, how does it work? When you figure it out let me know.

Alright, I'm aboard the Blog Train, thank you Audrey and Celeste for inspiring me. That said, I should explain the blog title, but does it really need an explanation? I recently saw a book that was similarly titled and thought it described my life perfectly (I guess my dating dilemmas are only a small portion of my life, but they're also the most comedic portion). No worries, with a picture as amazing as the one highlighting the title of the blog, I don't think I'll be single for long. Or, maybe I'll be able to dig up one soon of my sassy new bob (it's new to some of you) and that's sure to do the trick. Hope to hear from any or all of you soon. Welcome to my blog!
